Book 6 in the Brethren of the Coast series

When a band of thieves steals a priceless family heirloom from Nautionnier Knight Dalton Randolph’s ship, he vows to recover the treasured artifact and bring the criminals to justice. But the local governor is missing in action, and the governor’s daughter, Daphne Harcourt, is anything but cooperative, which presents a most irresistible challenge for the happy-go-lucky rake.

Miss Daphne Harcourt has spent her entire life on Portsea Island. When desperate circumstances force her to take drastic measures, she is discovered in a compromising position by a handsome stranger. To the undiscerning eye, Dalton Randolph could be the answer to her prayers, and an ancient brooch with mystical powers predicts just that. But is the charming sea captain her salvation or her downfall?

The Lucky One Brethren of the Coast Book 6 edition by Barbara Devlin Literature Fiction eBooks

This one of the best Historical romance authors I have read in years. Barbara Devlin is a complete delight with her attention to detail and historical facts. From the boats she has captain to the Elegance of the richest of balls all in a combination that makes the mind travel to that place and time.
Dalton and his lucky lady Daphne this book was a wonderful adventure in Love and watching the men of the Brethren flounder their way through love in this series was a laughable way to release some men no matter what era they lived in mess up when it comes to love, but they do realize the mistakes with some good nature help and just as many goofs of the woman they are after.

With an expression of pure wonder, she touched a finger to her mouth, and the apples of her cheeks flushed a charming rose hue. “I would take it as the height of insult were you to mark my first kiss with an exclamation of regret.” “Your first kiss?” For the second time in as many minutes, shock invested his frame. “Do you mean you have never indulged in a bit of harmless love play with the local dandies?” “I have not.”

The Lucky One Dalton Randolph awoke to a start 3 people raiding his ship for food and was fine with that until he realized someone had taken a treasured family Heirloom that belonged to the Admirals wife Lady Amanda. When he goes about trying to get the item back he finds the woman he cant forget for some reason and one of England biggest rakehell has been captured in her innocent overtures.

Miss Daphne Harcourt has no idea more then food was taken until a gentleman comes looking for information about the thieves. When she finds her brothers with the item she has no choice but to return it to the man whole has stolen his way into her dreams. When he discovers her many secrets how can he leave with her on her own and decides he wants more.

Can Daphne Protect her brothers when the truth comes out?
Well her secrets come to light and destroy the life she has worked hard to hold on to?
What Happens when the rest of the Brethren try to help them out?
With such a rocky start to there life and the waters they must go through to be together can Dalton prove Why he is The Lucky One?

How ironic was it that a provincial virgin had capsized one of the most notorious rakes in London? “Worry not, sweetheart. Everything will work out, in the end, because fate favors the lucky.”

The Lucky One Brethren of the Coast Book 6 edition by Barbara Devlin Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I enjoyed the Lucky one, It is in a series of books from one brother or sister or the
other. I love the time in the 1800"s. All of the books are a great read.
Happy go lucky Dalton's story, is another keeper. I knew there was more to Dalton than meets the eye. He just needed the irresistible Miss Daphne Harcourt to reveal all his best qualities. I love that all the Nautionnier Knights and their lovely wives were in this story together, especially all the naughty advice they give to the lovely Daphne. This book is full of romance, fun, laughter, adventure, lovely characters and, yes a happy ending. This book couldn't have been better, for me! I recommend reading all the Brethren of the Coast books so you may enjoy the lovely ladies and their Nautionnier Knights stories as I and many others have.
This is well written but unfortunately what I had hoped was different became just as the other books were. Dealing with the husband market - the ton - misunderstandings and machinations. With some sex thrown in. The first third of the story dealing with a stolen brooch and a missing governor and his children was interesting. When the rest of the Brethren became involved it just bored me. At that point I skimmed, skipped, and then just gave up.

Four stars because Barbara Devlin can write. These stories are beloved by so many and I hate to step on that but this book just became like the others before it and I became tired with it.
This Bretheren series novel was a little different, it started with our hero feeling intense admiration for his future bride, instead of the usual intense plain lust, and then built from there. I found their story to be exceptionally sweet. And as always it could be read without benefit of the others.
I know I said as much following my review of Book 5, but these stories just keep coming without any loss of joy, laughter and love. It is amazing how Ms. Devlin makes each story uniquely its own without any detriment to her marvelous characters. I love each of them and can't wait for the next book.
Would I sound too much like a fan girl if I were to admit that I have been waiting for this book since I finished book 1? Probably, but then so be it. Barbara Devlin is one author that has never disappointed me. Every story is better than the last. Strong characters and a strong captivating plot are a given.

From the moment I first met Dalton, I wondered if maybe there was more to him than he let on. Dalton is a devilishly handsome rake, or at least he seems to be for all intents and purposes. He relishes causing havoc in the hearts of young ladies, rebel rousing and needling his stodgy, older brother, Dirk. I have been eagerly waiting for the day when he finally meets the woman who leads him on a merry chase and gives him his comeuppance. Enter Daphne Harcourt, proper Governor’s daughter by day, accomplished thief by night. Here is someone else who isn’t exactly who she pretends to be to others.

Let the games begin!
Heading in I was anxious as ever to be reunited with the knights and their ladies given I love them all as I love my cherished friends and family!! I couldn't have imagined what was in store for Dalton but I knew in my heart it would leave a smile on my face just as the other stories had. I was not disappointed in the least bit as I welcomed each back with an open heart and walked along side Dalton and Daphne through it all. I was glad to see what was in store for our beloved Lady Amanda and Lieutenant Douglas and I can't wait to read the next adventure!!
