The Catholic Church has always reminded her spiritual children to reflect often, even daily, on "The Four Last Things" Death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell. For there is nothing better conceived than this powerful meditation to bring forcefully before our minds the essential purpose of life, namely, to save our souls and avoid Hell. The saints have recommended it most highly, especially the great Doctor of the Church, St. Alphonsus Liguori (1689-1787).

I am 69 years old and have read many hundreds of books during my lifetime. None of them has impacted me to the degree that The Four Last Things has. Seldom, if ever, have I read a book more than once. I am now on my third reading of The Four Last Things. This book will never be placed in my bookshelf to gather dust. It will be on my coffee table or side table for the duration. This is a book that I will read over and over again for the remainder of my life.Product details

The Four Last Things Death Judgment Hell Heaven Fr Martin Von Cochem OSF Paul A Boer Sr 9781494364410 Books Reviews
There really is nothing to dislike about this book. The message is clear, yet for many it is difficult to accept. If you are looking for a book that will tingle your ears and make you feel comfortable in your state of life this isn’t for you! This is for the one who is willing to battle for his salvation by always striving for holiness. Even for that person this book will be unsettling yet motivating.
100% of us will all experience death. This book describes what happens at death and thereafter. It would be in your interest to read these things before they happen so you may better prepare yourself for a better outcome to the events that will befall us all. Do not despair but rather be grateful for the knowledge you will benefit from in this book. If a soul doesn't amend its ways after reading this book than it is a fool or thinks it all to be fiction.
Truly, one of the best books I’ve ever read on the Four Last Things. Makes one think very deeply on their final destination and the way to get to Heaven and avoid Hell. Hell is unfathomable and you do not want to go there, nor do you want anyone else to go there either! This book will literally scare the Hell out of you! Please read. You will not be disappointed! May literally be the most important book you will ever read.
Not a pro book reviewer but this is a powerful book. It would probably make most priests shaky. Don't read this before trying to relax or going to sleep. If you're a Christian let alone Catholic and after reading this book you don't want to crazy glue your halo to your head, you're braver than I. Good luck!
Not at all what Divine Mercy promises. Not for one minute do I believe that Christ wishes us to suffer unimaginable terror and torture at the time of our death, when our soul leaves our body. I don’t know where all the 5 star reviews come from. This book was written in the 1600s. If your looking for the truth, read St Faustina’s “Divine Mercy”
If you read this book, you won't want to continue a life not worry of all God wants for you. Judgement will be tough enough for ALL of us, but Hell is not where you will want to wind up. From Scripture and visions of the Saints, what Hell is really like is spelled out in detail. No one ever thinks they are going there, but Scripture say that many are called and few are chosen. Most churches avoid the Hell subject, but the true church is not avoiding it. Are YOU in the right church? A must read for ALL.
Although composed centuries ago, the message is as timeless as eternity.
For those modern-day Christians/Catholics who expect religion to make them feel all warm & fuzzy, this may be hard to stomach.
Listen to the average homily/sermon and no mention of the devil, hell, or other “unpleasantries” will be heard. The majority of those in the pews these days want to leave church smiling, in a happy, positive mood... not fearing for their very souls.
Pastors that solely take this approach may find more contributions in the passed-baskets, but they’re doing their congregations a huge disservice... perhaps even a mortal one!
Read this book carefully... it may be a “downer” by 21st century standards, but heed its admonitions and you’ll have all of eternity to rejoice and feel good.
Thanks for reading,
